Nonno Joe breezed on Friday working 4 furlongs on the dirt in 51.42 over Belmont Park Training Track. That work was 39 of 46 at the distance.
We spoke with trainer Rudy Rodriguez after the breeze. He said, "I gave him an easy work today. I'm keeping him fresh for the first turf races next month."
Rudy will breeze Nonno Joe on a 7-day breeze schedule preparing him for his next race which should be on the turf at Aqueduct in April.
January 4
Nonno Joe breezed on Sunday working 4 furlongs on the dirt in 49.85 over the Belmont Park Training Track. That work was 27 of 68 at the distance.
We spoke with trainer Jeremiah Englehart after the breeze. He said, "I was very happy with his breeze this morning. I worked him with a pretty solid horse and he hung in there with him. He's entered for Friday and he's ready to go."
Nonno Joe is entered to run in the Maiden Optional Claiming $40,000 race going 1 mile at Aqueduct on January 9.
