Mahopac, New York-based company teams with prominent trainer Jeff Mullins to offer claiming partnerships for Santa Anita/Del Mar circuit.

Mahopac, NY, March 15, 2014 – Hibiscus Stables has announced a furthering of its expansion into Southern California by supplementing its 2-year-old partnerships and offering claiming partnerships for Santa Anita and Del Mar. All claiming horses are to be trained by prominent trainer Jeff Mullins.

During the 2013 season Hibiscus Stables partnerships experienced a 21% win rate. Using this success as a springboard Hibiscus Stables will further expand its reach on the West Coast in 2014 by offering claiming partnerships with all claiming horses to be trained by Jeff Mullins. Mullins has been training horses since 1981. Jeff is a multiple graded stakes winning trainer. He trained 2005 Breeders' Cup Juvenile fillies runner-up Wild Fit and 2004 Breeders' Cup Sprint third place finisher My Cousin Matt. Jeff has won over 1400 races in his career and over $42,000,000 in earnings.

Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto said, “The Thoroughbred racing game continues to grow in popularity and participation. We’re aggressively executing strategies to leverage that growth in interest by offering a broad cross-section of products that allow fans a cost-effective means of participation. We continue to have aggressive plans for 2014 and further cementing a presence in Southern California is one of them. There's world class racing at Santa Anita and Del Mar. Jeff Mullins has been a high-percentage trainer on that circuit for many years and we’re delighted to team with him. It’s crucial that we enter relationships with individuals that believe in our program and, like Chris Englehart in New York, Jeff is very enthusiastic about what we’re doing.”

In 2013, Hibiscus Stables successfully offered partnerships for the New York circuit and the Southern California circuit. Oliveto credits a unique approach to partnerships, which includes a strong focus on the partners themselves and open communication on strategy, news, and a constant stream of information sharing. Partners are kept up to date on all facets of the business through newsletters, phone calls, and on-track meetings which creates a true “partner” experience for all owners.

Hibiscus Stables is currently assembling members for new partnerships for the 2014 season. The horses acquired for these partnerships are 2-year-olds and will be raced on the Southern California circuit including Santa Anita and Del Mar. Other new 2014 partnerships are forming with horses trained by Rick Violette and Steve Klesaris that will race on the New York circuit which includes Aqueduct, Belmont, and Saratoga race tracks.
